Questions, answered.
The things families ask us most, answered plainly. If yours is not here, book a visit and ask us in person.
Pebble House is a members' study house and tutoring centre in Pipera, Bucharest, directly opposite the British School of Bucharest. It is two things under one roof: a calm, well-run place to do your own work, and expert teaching on hand when it helps. It is not a school. It is the place you come to think, work and belong, with tutoring when you want it.
Ambitious students, and the families who want more for them than a grade. The house is built around students from sixteen through university, though younger students are welcome too, with supervision. Tutoring is open to every age, from primary through to the IB.
No. Tutoring and membership are separate. You can book tutoring on its own, become a member to use the house, or do both. We will help you find the rhythm that fits, and tutoring is always priced on its own, never bundled.
Strada Erou Iancu Nicolae 29, Floor 2, David Business Center, Pipera, directly opposite the British School of Bucharest. We are open 08:00 to 20:00, Monday to Saturday, with early starts before school and late finishes in exam season.
Lessons are taught live by native British teachers from IWS Online School, our Cambridge accredited academic partner, with twenty years of Cambridge teaching behind them. These are practising subject specialists who teach Cambridge classes every week, not tutors brushing up a topic between other jobs.
The lesson itself is taught live online by the British teacher, to Cambridge standards. A Pebble House mentor is in the building throughout: on hand if a question comes up during the lesson, and there the moment it ends to guide the independent study that makes it stick. We call it two minds on every lesson, and it is the difference between a lesson watched and a lesson learned.
From primary through to the IB, across every major subject: maths and the sciences, English, economics, computer science, the humanities, languages and the arts. We support IGCSE, A Level and the full IB diploma, on the Cambridge pathway.
We assess where a student is before we begin, agree what good progress looks like, and track it lesson by lesson. Parents receive regular progress notes and a monthly summary of hours, and we are easy to reach in between.
Tutoring is one to one by default. Small groups of two, three or four are available where they suit the student and share the cost. We keep groups small so every student is genuinely seen.
Yes. We talk through each student's needs at your first visit and adapt how we teach and mentor accordingly. We are glad to support students who learn differently, while being honest that we are not a specialist needs centre. If we are not the right fit, we will tell you.
The house is staffed and supervised every hour it is open, with a simple sign in and out. Our mentors are background checked, with a trained first aider on site. We have a named safeguarding lead and a written safeguarding policy, CCTV at the entrances, and a calm, visible environment by design. Your child is never simply left alone with a screen.
Yes. Because the teaching happens inside the house with a mentor present, your child is supervised throughout, not learning unsupervised in a bedroom. Lessons run on IWS Online School's platform, and we treat student data and privacy carefully, using it only to support their learning.
Membership starts at €69 a month for twenty hours, up to €299 a month for the Cornerstone tier with mentorship and university support. Tutoring is priced separately, by the hour or in packages that lower the rate, from €30 an hour at primary to €65 at IB. A €15 day pass lets you work for a day without joining, and annual membership is about fifteen percent less.
No. Our prices are published in full on the membership and tutoring pages. You only ever pay for the hours your child actually needs, and we will never add a surprise to your bill.
Yes. Book a visit and we will show you the house, introduce the people and answer anything, with no obligation. A visit takes about twenty minutes, and it is the best way to understand the place.
Membership is monthly and rolling: you can cancel with notice, and there is no long lock-in. Paying annually simply costs a little less. Tutoring packages are paid in advance and used over time. We would always rather earn your stay than tie you to it.
A place in the house: a desk, the quiet rooms, the coffee bar and the terrace, and the company of people who take their work seriously. Higher tiers add unlimited hours, a locker and a dedicated spot, and at Cornerstone, weekly mentorship, a CV review and university and career consulting.
Absolutely. Many members use Pebble House purely as a calm, beautiful place to do their own work. Tutoring is there if and when it helps, and is never required.
There is a coffee bar in the Pantry and a terrace to step out to, and fast wifi throughout. The house is built to be somewhere you are happy to spend a long, focused day.
Yes. We are open Monday to Saturday through the year, with early starts and late finishes in exam season, when a quiet place to work matters most.
Book a visit. We will show you around, talk through what your child needs, and shape a plan that fits, whether that is membership, tutoring, or both. For membership you apply, we talk, and you join when it is right.
Yes, at our Cornerstone tier, which includes an hour of mentorship a week, a CV review, and university and career consulting, to help a student choose and reach the right next step.
Lessons are taught in English, on the British and Cambridge curriculum. Our team speaks Romanian too, so families are always easy to talk to.
Still have a question?
The best answers come from standing inside the house. Come and see it, or send us a note and we will reply, usually the same day.
